Working primarily with self-publishing authors, I specialize in freelance editing, proofreading, and manuscript evaluations for both fiction and nonfiction books. Not all editors are able to master the skills of editing both fiction and nonfiction, but my skills and expertise in both areas have developed organically since the beginning of my editing career. Over the past eleven years, I’ve fine-tuned my fiction and nonfiction editing skills in a wide variety of genres.
Full-length book manuscripts make up the largest portion of my work. I’ve also worked on magazines, a newspaper, and corporate communications including marketing materials, reports, handbooks, and websites. I help students with academic manuscripts including essays, theses, and dissertations. You may be a first-time author preparing to self-publish, a business leader desiring a clearer corporate image, or a student with a paper to complete. I can help you understand and touch your readers, establish or polish your style, improve your marks or profits, and ultimately, help you leave a legacy in writing.
My array of services includes:
What I don’t do is ghostwriting, complex formatting, design work, indexing, or search engine optimization. However, if you should need any other services besides those listed above, I’m well connected in the Editors’ Association of Canada and in the publishing world, and I’ll almost certainly be able to help you find the right expert for your needs.
Manuscript editing and proofreading are broad categories and encompass many different editing levels. For more detailed descriptions of the various types of editing, please visit my page Types of editing defined.
